Best Podcasts to Listen to Now

Our current lockdown led to multiple online initiatives, from live sessions on Instagram and YouTube to zoom, the most popular platform for work meetings and webinars.

Dana Thomas, author of Fashionopolis: The Price of Fast Fashion - and the Future of Clothes is using IG live to host a series of talks on fashion sustainability.

Vogue has also launched Vogue Global Conversations, four days of conversations, held on Zoom, featuring discussions betweenVogue editors, designers, and fashion-industry executives.

It covers a wide range of topics affecting the fashion industry, from the impact self-isolation has on creativity and design, to the future of brick-and-mortar retail and e-commerce.

"These conversations are a chance for us to come together, connect, and remind ourselves that we are a global community.” Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue U.S.

Even though online video discussions are really interesting, they can also add up to a feeling of information overload, and increase the amount of hours most of us already spend glued to our laptop screens.

So a refreshing alternative is to simply listen to a podcast. Here's a list of my favourite podcasts to listen to while enjoying some time off screen:

The BoF Podcast

In the latest special edition of the BoF Podcast, the Dutch trend forecaster says that the coronavirus pandemic is bringing to light what is wrong with society, teaching us to slow down and to change our ways.

The Economist Asks: Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin‘s red-soled shoes have won devotees from Aretha Franklin to Cardi B. But when what it means to be feminine, sexy and fashionable is being redefined, where does the stiletto stand? In Paris, Anne McElvoy asks the French shoe designer where the line lies between fashion and fetishism. Is veganism a fad and how is he preparing the business for a coronavirus pandemic?

The Glossy Podcast

For fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, the coronavirus pandemic is a chance for her namesake business to accelerate pre-existing plans. That starts with reexamining the brand's dependence on its own brick-and-mortar stores versus wholesale. The tighter focus also extends to the brand's social media strategy.

"I see a strong desire to return to physical retail when this is all over.” Rebecca Minkoff, Fashion Designer

Build Your Dream Network, Kelly Hoey

We all react to crises differently, and it can be easy to forget others may not be responding exactly as we would (or as we'd like them to). Kelly's answers can help us reduce friction in our networking and communication by considering things from other perspectives.
