Red Carpet Ready

It's always exciting to look at the Haute Couture shows in Paris and find the most beautiful dresses for the red carpet. It's difficult to choose just one dress from each brand as inevitably some collections are stronger than others.

I would say the top three were definitely Christian Dior, Valentino and Zuhair Murad. There seems to be some sort of tribal influence going on, with touches of vibrant colours, gold and feathers.

It's worth mentioning Jean Paul Gaultier has presented his last collection, choosing to retire and enjoy the rest of his life. Valentino Garavani has taken the same decision a few years ago, letting others take the lead.

Those who have succeeded him, Maria Grazia Chiuri (now at Christian Dior) and Pierpaolo Piccioli, are growing stronger each season. Gaultier revisited some of his most iconic designs throughout his career and his show had the feel of a lavish party with exciting guests. Thank you for the amazing work!

"As I sat watching from the orchestra pit, it dawned on me that JPG spent the last half century asking for many of the things we expect in popular culture today: Men in skirts. Girls in suits. Diversity on the runway. Body positivity. Trans visibility. He did it all first!" Derek Blasberg (Instagram)
