Winter seems particularly long this year, but spring is fast approaching which means it's a good time to look into your wardrobe and clear away what you no longer wear. Be ruthless, we tend to become sentimental about clothes and shoes, but if they're not serving their purpose, it's better to give them away. If you haven't worn it for a year that tells you it's likely they're just filling up space.

There's nothing quite like a 'zen' style wardrobe which feels spacious and where you can see everything you own at a glance. Here are a few tips to help you start:

- Give to your friends or charity clothes and shoes you haven't worn in a year or which no longer fit you. Don't overestimate your body's ability to go back to a previous state. In the unlikely case it does, you can always go shopping to reward yourself for the achievement!

- Organise your wardrobe according to your lifestyle, so whatever you tend to wear most often needs to be easily accessible. This can be followed by what you love most. Another option is to put all dresses together, then all skirts, coats... You get the picture.

- Take a good look at the main colours on your wardrobe and next time you go shopping try buying something different, as otherwise it looks like you're wearing the same thing again and again. This also has an impact on your well-being, colours are connected to centres of energy in our body and can help balancing them.

- It's also a good idea to organise your shoes according to colours as it makes it easy to look for the right pair when you're already dressed. If your wardrobe doesn't have a place for them, it's good to keep them in boxes with photos attached to them, so you can quickly know what's inside.

- Keep your jewellery and makeup organised, there are plenty of options to choose from, beautiful armoires or simple boxes in wood, leather and acrylic.

- Have a designated area just for accessories: bags, hats, gloves, belts... Its easier if they're all in one place.
