WHO WE ARE

Fashion Critic Network team

"Fashion is the poetry of our time." John Malkovich

Founded by Lina VazFashion Critic Network was a labour of love. Living in London and working in events often involves working long hours during the week and sometimes weekends, but there was always some spare time to update Fashion Critic Network at some point. Above all, fashion is something you fall in love with, it can happen when you're growing up either looking at glamourous fashion magazines or admiring your mother's style.

Only love can explain why the greatest fashion designers have worked until death took them away from this world, think of Coco Chanel, Cristobal Balenciaga or Azzedine Alaïa. It also allows people to express different moods and lifestyles, communicating something about their personality to the world around them, even if it is simply feeling comfortable, blending in or a 'couldn't care less' attitude.

When we go on a date or job interview, what we wear can have a short lived or long lasting impact on our life. When attending fashion shows, celebrities, journalists, buyers and bloggers plan their wardrobe thoughtfully as a picture in the right place can be extremely beneficial for their career.

For most people, fashion is a business, even though it's still seen as frivolous and not listed as an independent category on many places, it does generate billions worldwide. As in most businesses, profit rules, and the only concern about the consumer is how to generate more sales, and the impact on the environment and on the lives of people producing fashion in third world countries is generally overlooked.

People buying fashion in the West may think they have the best part of the deal, but they're being constantly brainwashed about buying more and more. Nowadays the store-like wardrobe of celebrities extends to the average consumer. This is why we want to join the efforts of other movements for a fashion industry with a heart, caring about the planet and all those living on it.
